The Jewish leadership thought they had rid themselves of the "Jesus problem." But Peter and John healed a crippled beggar in Jesus' name and claimed Jesus was alive.  The leadership decided to stop this Jesus movement by arresting Peter and John. Temple politics played into this decision.
